On something to think about...

On some holiday love.

Saw this on an old blog post, i think it circulated 2008 so of course i get around to it in 2010 :) So here goes!

Egg nog or hot chocolate?
Hot chocolate, with lots of whipped cream. I like it made with white, milk or dark chocolate and always with whipped cream or marshmallows!

Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
I love wrapping presents! The way you wrap them can be so creative and festive..I also like having them wrapped early, so I can sit them by the tree for a few weeks. So pretty :)

Colored lights on tree/house or white?
I like white lights the most, i think they are always classic and elegant but any color makes me excited for christmas!

Do you hang mistletoe?
I never have...and haven't ever seen it hung at anyones house I don't think!

When do you put your decorations up?
I have always decorated a bit while away at school just as soon as it snows!...The actual tree and such usually waits until i get home for break. This year i am staying with my brother to be the nanny for my niece so we did some decorating here and i will do even more when i am home at my parents and boyfriends houses.

Favorite holiday memory as a child?
Well it's still my favorite memory, but our christmas eve dinner is always so cosy and full of amazing food and sweets! then we go to our towns tiny church for candle light service which is always so humbling and heartwarming.

When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I don't even remember!!! Apparently I wasn't too traumatized!

How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
I have silver and blue ornaments, and also a bunch of randoms. I've only had 2 x-mas trees (away from parents home) so I don't have too much stuff.

Snow! Love it or dread it?
Love it like a 5 yr old! but i admit by the end of winter i am ready for it to melt away...

Do you remember your favorite gift?
Each year we get such great but different gifts that i dont have favorites..i have always loves sitting by the wood-stove to open our stockings though.

What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?
For sure spending time with family and friends. I just love the holidays for many reasons. The weather, sledding, the lights, wrapping gifts, the hot drinks, backing cookies etc.

What is your favorite holiday dessert?
I can never get enough old fashioned sugar cookies but i also love all the pie and the yule log!

What is your favorite holiday tradition?
i think having our small christmas eve celebration where we eat tons of yummy food,go to church, and open gifts before we see the whole extended family christmas day is my favorite..i just love the cozy stress-free night.

What tops your tree?
It has changed a few times over the years but it is usually a big wood woven star or straw dad grew up in sweden so the food and decorations are very classic European at home.

Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?
I think i love them both! being blessed with great gifts from my family and friends is very heart warming but i have always loved finding the perfect gift and wrapping it up just so:)

What is your favorite Christmas song?
i dont have just one song but i love classic artist ling bing crosby, frank sinatra etc..

Candy canes?
I like the way they look but have never like eating them much ..

Favorite Christmas movie?
I have to say Elf but i love the home alone movies as well and of course charlie brown christmas!

What do you leave for Santa?
We dont set anything out now but we used to set out cookies and clementins.

Have a wonderful christmas full of old and new traditions!

Oh how i love my Amazon wish list....a little too much.

Santa letter
..i swear when it comes to christmas i will never grow up...and i hope i never do to be honest i love being a kid on christmas morning...and yes i still try to find out what i am getting! I would still write a letter to santa if it was socially acceptable, but sadly it is not as cute at 24 as it was at, i just click and smile while adding things to the wonder of my Amazon wish list! I know it pronounces my love for cute things and my need to make lists whether or not they ever get checked off, but alas the adding of little gems makes me smile...part list making addiction part holiday addiction!!

Summer Read....

I admit i am a CASTLE follower and since i am now no longer a college student i have time to read something other than school work!!!(insert happy dance here). I read the sneak peak of this last year but was too busy to read a mystery tv novel mid-term so i mentally filed it away for some other time....which is now! Here is to summer reading!

the book can be bought and also downloaded at CASTLE!

Words of wisdom....not from me....

A friend shared this the other day and i found it to be refreshing, i hope you enjoy it as well.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

Do you ever....?

Do you ever have sooooo many things going on in your head and life that you can't figure out how to let just one or two out? That has been me lately which, would explain the lack of blog posts. Lots have things have crossed my path but not so much has been let go so i will try to let a bit out in order to get rolling again and make room for new things to enter my mind and life. As of right now i have 3 more weeks of undergrad and as i am sure many others have experienced, i am now not quite ready to move on. It seems strange to live here for these past years and then just pick up and move without a plan of return. three weeks left, a ton of school work to do, senior gatherings and such, an apartment full of my last 5 years and a lot to miss..... bittersweet time but a step forward in the right direction. Time to get ready for the next chapter!

Happy Dance!

This song just makes me smile! Not only is his voice like buttah but it is so sweet and adorable just a little bit of happiness in a busy day! Hope you think the video it as fun and cute as i do!

Doesn't it just make you wish you could break out in song and dance? Happy weekend everyone!

On Wool and lots of it!

So to explain the wool i will just say i have been wanting to do some felting lately. I would consider myself a beginner in the world of felting but, i have done some basic wet felting with my preschoolers and some basic needle felting for some classroom projects. So while visiting my family and boyfriend over spring break i wanted to go and get some wool at the spinnery,so justin and i went on an adventure first to Green Mountain Spinnery, When we walked in it smelled of that amazing sheep wooly smell! so they didn't have any colors but they did have a huge! i mean bigger than big bag of what they call "dirt wool" (actually not that dirty) which is basically the wool that falls of the edges of the carding machines. So i couldn't resist and bought a bag!

So then we went on a second adventure to find colored wool so that we could make felted easter eggs! Our second trip landed us as Harrisville Designs, a wonderful wool, yarn, weaving etc, place in an old little town full of large brick old textile  buildings right on a river where the water went rushing under them. It was quite amazing to listen to the water below as we strolled about the little store. this is where we found colored wool galore the store was filled from top to bottom with the most beautiful colors of wool and yarn.

Ok so you would think we could have stopped there but we didn't! we went on to a cute little shop in wilton NH called the 'Color Shop' and got some beautiful colored 100%wool felt!

So to top it all off, all of these amazing wool products and to accompany my new bookstore find!

I cant wait to start felting! once i actually take it all out and make some wooly little thing i will be sure to share!

happy spring crafting everyone!

On Nancy Drew, Esspreso and a Noble Lab

Do you ever pause unconsciously in your day and take a mental snapshot of you and that moment?
The other day i did just that and realized at the age of 23 i had just waltzed into my local bookshop
purchased a Nancy Drew novel a double shot latte and wandered home to live the dream.
This was a unique moment but to me a moment of bliss.
I found myself curled up with the pup floundering in the sun that poured in through the large bedroom
windows, honestly relaxed and happy. After days of working hard into the night on an essay i felt it to even be a
bit cleansing to read Nancy Drew and just breath....[side note] Is anyone else as jealous of the fact that Nancy
never really grows up? Yes, my life is blessed in many ways but, I would kill to just jump in my convertible call
my friends and go for a trip to the beach or some other magical place. This dream in no way means i don't love
my life but who out there honestly thinks that dream would suck? no one? that's what i figured.
So in my little world right now I may not have the ability to grab my friends and go gallivanting about but, I do
ave the ability to sit in my sun-soaked room with a good cup of jo, my noble lady lab and pages full
of my dream adventures!

Thought i would start with a picture!

This is the start to my attempt of a photo a day! i dont think i will post them all but i will make a home for them on my site feel free to join in the adventure of photographing your world either in privet or in public by joining project 365 on flickr! This is my dog on our morning walk!
